I ate the bitch.
I made me one of my favourite meals today, if you can call it a meal (it's usually regarded as breakfast, but fuck that). It's the perfect meal for me personally, as it's easy to prepare, very cheap and really really good.
I think it's what you English speaking folk refer to as French Toast - white bread soaked in a batter made out of milk, eggs and sugar; fried in a frying pan for a minute or two; add sugar and a touch of cinnamon, and dinner's served. Delicious.
Now, for some reason, when making up the name for this particular dish, the Dutch didn't feel like joining the English speaking world in honouring the French for it. They thought of another name. A better name.
That, or the ancient Dutch had a wicked sense of humour. Because the Dutch name for what you people call French Toast is (and I'm not even translating freely here) ..
.. rotating bitches. Yup, rotating bitches. As in bitches that rotate.
's All.
Cheers

One Scottish variation to this is to swap the sugar and cinnamon for ketchup. Yuh huh, ketchup.
:)
I call it gewonnen brood (though some of my friends call them wentelteefjes as well). It's a slightly different recipe, but basically the same thing.

Doesn't surprise me one bit, Pep - I mean, you people invented Haggis.

Here in England we don't have any sugar or cinnamon on it! Ewww :-)
We just fry it and put salt on it. I like it with some tomato sauce or mayo!
Martin... french toast is yum! :-D
Gah, sugar!
In Australia, it's no sugar or aweetners, but tomato sauce.Yum:)
