Retrospectacular.
Best three films of '04:
- Lost In Translation
- Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
- 21 Grams
Best three films of '05:
- Sin City
- The Aviator
- King Kong
There's a peculiar discrepancy there - while the Indie(-ish) films topped my list of 2004, 2005 was the year of the big budget blockbusters. Is this just a fluke, does this mean my tastes in films are shifting, or is Hollywood finally getting better at making intellectually challenging and emotionally provocative big budget motion pictures?
I doubt the middle option is true.
I'm kind of hoping for the latter option, but ..
I'm afraid it's the former.
Ah well. Whichever it is, as long as Naomi Watts keeps making films, I'm a happy man.
Cheers

As I agree with your choices for 2004, except for Lost in Translation, and don't agree at all with those from 2005, I guess your taste is changing or you are just strange... Or I'm strange. One thing is sure, it's not Hollywood getting better.
I am definitely strange, that goes without saying.
And on Hollywood not getting any better. I disagree. With the 'arrival' of Peter Jackson, I do feel that Hollywood has gotten a teeny tiny bit better.

I haven't seen ANY of those!
I feel so weak and inferior.
Hold on, no I don't!
Yay to 2006, Martin!
:)
What, like, none?
At all?
Cheers
Sin City, yes, but the Aviator and King Kong?! Hell, no!
There's no accounting for taste, is there?
Cheers
