"Who are you wearing?"

The Academy Awards Ceremony helped me realise something.

It amazes me how hypocritical the American media can be when it comes to interviewing celebrities. I caught some 20 minutes of the 'Red Carpet-show' on CNN last night (the actual show itself wasn't even broadcast in my neck of the woods), and a few things struck me as odd. And when I say odd, I mean blatant lies!.

  • Blatant lie #1: This hyped-up presenter was, at one point during the show, talking to the gayest fashion designer I have ever seen, and at some point this gay fashion designer started talking about how good eveybody looked. For some reason, he singled out Renee Zelwegger, who, he claimed, looked absolutely amazing. Now, just moments before this fashion-revelation I happened to catch a glimps of Miss Zelwegger and, let me tell you, she looked dreadful! All I could say was 'Ugg!'; if I were her, I'd sue some people. At random, if necessary.

  • Blatant lie #2: A little later in the show someone was interviewing Gwyneth Paltrow. Now, her presence there in itself is an outrage, because this woman can't act even if her life depends on it. Add to that the fact that she talks and acts British when she clearly isn't makes her someone I would not invite to my award-show. Anyway, when the ass-kissing was over, the interviewer switched back to the hyped-up presenter who proceeded kissing Gwyneth's ass some more before saying something along the lines of: "Gwyneth always looks great at awards shows". First off, she did not look good. Not at all. Secondly, she always looks good at awards shows?! Have we forgotten about this?! I guess we have.
Best looking person of the entire evening? Right here. Hillary Swank would come in as a good second with that kick-ass dress, if it weren't for that horse-face. As it is, the honour of second place goes to Emmy Rossum.

Some more unexplicable shit: What the fuck are people like Q. Nuddy (or whatever the fuck he's calling himself this week) and Salma Hayek doing at the bloody Oscars?!

And to conclude this tiny little rant over here - the question "Who are you wearing?" makes me physically ill. It does, it really does.

Cheers

Renee would have looked nice if she would get a new hair-do and stop wearing colors that wash her out.

I thought Gwyneth looked very nice. Whether she can act or not, who cares? Doesn't effect her looks. After having a baby, she was amazing. No one looks great all the time, but I thought she looked good.

Hilary Swank's get up was HORRID to me. So not flattering from the front. It was like a horrible frock (Cojo called it a burka lmao). A dress with a plunging back is not meant to have a cover-it-all front. That's just the way it is.

I personally thought Charlize Theron looked the best. Her dress had that frilly thing goin on, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but she pulled it off so well. The color was great for her, and her hair and makeup were gorgeous. She gets my vote.

Maybe it's just a difference of male and female opinion - though I like to think that because I'm bisexual (and rather a pig when it comes to ladies) that I count as a man too *lol*.

I know what you're saying about what are certain people doing there... such as drew barrymore. OK, I can see her being there, but presenting an award?? She hasn't done anything oscar worthy since E.T.

Ah yeah, forgot about Charlize Theron - she always looks good. I really liked Hillary Swank's dress, though; the front was nothing special, but the back more than made up for that.

I watched CNN also (and then switched to Kanaaltwee, who aired the entire show — Lord was I a tired camper Monday!), and you're most certainly right about the blatant lies. Renée Zellweger looked absolutely horrid, but so did Hilary Swank and Gwyneth Paltrow and almost everybody else (I was surprised to see Kirsten Dunst look good for a change, and I kinda like Drew Barrymore (though her head shaking annoys the hell out of me) and she looked decent as well.). Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz still can't speak English to save their lives and um... The show was boring.

That's it, I'm moving!

this rant of yours was really funny! i love hearing "other than Americans" perspective on the shit we (americans) hype up.

i didn't even watch the stupid awards! it is dumb and yes the most annoying question ever..."who are you wearing?" *rollingmyeyes*

i agree with your blatant lies too...how can anyone with the ability to SEE say such atrocities to the actors face and not laugh afterward?! i'd be snickering my ass off after saying something like, "you look absolutely amazing" knowing full well she does NOT!!!

We should start the sarcastic red carpet show. oh it'd be hysterical! We'd be all, "Oh my gosh I LOVE WHAT YOU ARE WEARING!" Then nudge one another while laughing hysterically! "OH yeah, Who made that gown!? What creativity!!!" haa haa hee hee! ; )

Nah, that would make stealing the idea a whole lot more complicated for me, so don't bother.
