Boom, shake, shake, shake the room.

Improvisational theatre, is what they call it.

A fantastic night out, is what I call it.

There's this group of American comedians, called BoomChicago, giving nightly shows in a small bar/theatre in Amsterdam. Nothing special there, right? Wrong. Their gimmick is that they improvise almost the entire show - nigh on nothing has been scripted; and it is exactly this constant improvising which makes this show so damn funny.

What makes their improv comedy so special is that the actors can improvise anything you throw at them within the blink of an eye; the performers ask the audience for names of famous people, favourite objects, interesting words or some such random things, which they then incorporate into a hilarious sketch. And in these scenes not only the Dutch get slapped around (we're cheap and we complain all the time), but their home nation, the US, also gets quite some slack; this show is not only funny, it's also razorsharp.

Quote of the day:
- "Did your wife survive that pregnancy?"
- "I don't remember."
I guess you should've been there.

I'd tell you to go see this, if any of you actually lived anywhere near Amsterdam. Considering that you don't, telling you that you're missing out is all I can give you.

Cheers

That's talent. Wish I could be so natural like that...or I guess, it's just quick thinking huh?

Both, absolutely both. Sometimes, when a sketch like that ended, we just looked and eachother and mouthed 'Wow' over the loud music.

Respect.

Cheers
