A quality night in, Vol. I.
Last night I decided that it was time again for a good-film-night. After watching all kinds of crap lately, a needed a quick fix of quality. In the end I opted for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill and Danny Boyle's Trainspotting.
I still don't own Kill Bill, because I'm waiting for the double DVD boxset, which should be released some time this year. It was the third time I've watched this film, and it still hasn't lost any of its raw power and
anime was done really well; it was creative and bold, without losing the essence of the film. It was my favorite part (though the scene at the House of Blue Leaves comes close). And to think I haven't even said a word about the music! All in all I really liked this film, as I knew I would. Tarantino, in my book, stands for quality entertainment, and I can't wait for his next project!
Cheers

brutal energy - it truely is a brilliant film. It's clearly an hommage to the 70's Martial Arts films; just look at the campy colour and sound-effects (which all fit perfectly within this film) and the tracksuit Uma/the Bride is wearing (remind you of anyone?). You have to hand it to Tarantino, he has a good eye - every shot is suffused with colour and charisma, each scene is a little masterpiece on its own. What I thought was an especially bold move was the backstory of Lucy Liu's character, which was done completely in anime. The |
