A harsh mistress.
Several weeks ago I wrote about a micrograph of in-vitro fertilization which produced something that resembled a van Goghian sun in an alien sky more than anything else; its beauty immediately struck me, and still does to this day, which is why I wrote about it.
Well, if that was, as mentioned above, an alien sun blazing fiercely over some unknown farscape, than I have now stumbled upon its nightly counterpart. If I ever keep my word and mount a large print of the sun on my wall, then I want to this hanging on the opposing wall:
This silvery, incandescent moon is actually an amoebe-esque micro-organism and its phosphorescent rays which are fiercely illuminating nothing but limitless darkness are cytoplasm projections used to capture and eat its prey. Death rays in the truest sense of the word.
What it also is, is mighty pretty. Surely I have room for two 3 by 5 foot pieces of printed canvas, no?
