Pity me. Please?
It's 3:30 am right now, and I can't sleep. I'll tell you why.
Friday night I had a minor headache, which I thought nothing of, as I tend to have those quite often, especially with the weather turning like it is.
Saturday morning all was well, and I left for work, as per usual, later that afternoon. Halfway through the shift, the headache came back, slightly stronger than the day before, but I still couldn't really be bothered; I figured it was just a continuation of a cold I'd been having, on and off, for about a month. When I went to bed later that night, it had progressed to the point that I decided on taking an aspirin.
After a crappy night's sleep the headache was still there sunday morning, coupled with a slightly feverish feeling. I decided to sit it out, and went about my normal sunday routine, which is doing nothing, and lazing about the house for a bit. I even went to see my folks, who noticed right away that something was up. I decided to call in sick, for the night shift, and turn in early, so around 11 pm-ish I took another aspirin and went to bed.
An hour ago I woke up due to a sharp pain shooting through my upper jaw, and as I pressed my tongue against the roof of my mouth, I noticed something; the roof of my mouth is all swollen, and sore to the touch. This can only mean one thing.
I have an inflammation somewhere in my gums. I can pinpoint the exact location of it with my tongue; there's one spot on the roof of my mouth, if I press there, I feel an incredibly uncomfortable pressure rapidly building up behind one of my teeth there. In other words, there is a big-ass bubble of boiling pus located somewhere in my upper jaw (the kind my dad used to lance with a red-hot needle, when he was younger - he was more of a man than I am), and it hurts like shit.
Come daybreak I'll be calling the dentist's office, and ask if they'll be able to squeeze me in somewhere, because another day (let alone night) of this is just not an option.
Writing this post was a nice distraction. I'm done now, though.
Ouch.
[Update] I went back to bed at 5 am, feeling a lot better, and after I'd been lying down for a bit, I started feeling worse again. So, one plus one, it gets worse when I lie down. I've been up for a few hours now, and while I'm not having the best day of my life, I feel much better than this morning. So, I'm going to sit it out for another day, before calling the dentist's office. I'll be buggered if I'm gonna spend a couple hundred quid on something that might disappear on its own accord. [/Update]
Cheers

Oh dear God...the pain...ick.
I hope the dentist could help today.
I didn't go, because I felt quite alright, today. Though, I'm going to bed, now - that's where it went wrong yesterday.
Wish me luck.
