Ozzy notes.

- You haven't done the splendidly gorgeous Great Ocean Road til you've done it on a searingly hot day accompanied by your ever so slightly tonedeaf girlfriend to whom you're trying to explain the concept of rythm to The Scissor Sisters' I Don't Feel Like Dancing. Similarly, you haven't watched a breathtaking sunset at the London Bridge (the rock formation just off the Great Ocean Road, not the actual London-based bridge) til you've seen it accompanied by my increasingly snap-happy girlfriend who insists on taking a picture literally every seven seconds because, and I quote, 'it looks different!".

- My book buying has gone from a genial hobby to a downright disturbing obsession. I cannot walk past a bookshop without going in, and I cannot go in without, nine times out of ten, coming out ten minutes later proudly carrying a new literary acquisition. Point in case: just five minutes ago, number9dream by David Mitchell and 45 minutes ago, Down Under by Bill Bryson. The worst of it is that I can't bring myself to throwing away, giving away, or selling the books I've read, so now I'm going to the nearest post office to inquire how much it would set me back to send the eight books I've read sofar home.

Yes. A birthday hat, to be precise, sent to me by my future brother in law last month.

What of it?
