Ender's Game.
I recently read Orson Scott Card's sci-fi classic Ender's Game (yes, Bas, after five years of having you recommend it to me every single time we entered a bookstore together, I finally buckled and read the damn thing), and I absolutely loved it - an exhiliratingly exciting book, far ahead of its time.
However, while reading it, I kept thinking: "Why hasn't this been trned into a film, yet?!"
The entire book has blockbuster written all over it; the story's great, that goes without saying (there's a reason it's become a classic), but there are other elements that would translate spectacularly to the silver screen. Take the Battleroom scenes, for instance (those of you unfamiliar with the book, go read the damn thing). These scenes, in which the kids practice for the upcoming zero-gravity war, could, in the hands of a competent director, be turned into some kick-ass CGI-driven action sequences.
And then it dawned on me.
A quick trip to IMDb ...
Voila!
2008 needs to get here, pronto!
Cheers
