The price I pay ..

My car stalled.

I love my car, don't get me wrong, but the fecking thing should not just stall on me.

"Now, now, now, every car stalls every now and again", I hear you say, and I agree, but this was not the regular, run-of-the-mill stall.

I came up to a rather busy intersection, and the traffic light just switched to red (that goes without saying - they always do when I approach). I stepped on the clutch, changed gear to first, and vroooom blob blob blob ....., dead.

No big deal, just switch off the ignition, switch it on again, and restart.

Switch off ignition.

Switch ignition back on.

Restart.

Vroooom blob blob blob .....

Shit.

Okay, no need for panic, I'll just give it a few seconds, no rush, the light's still red. Let the engine settle down before restarting it.

Pling - green.

Turn on ignition - start the car.

Vroooom blob blob blob .....

It took me five minutes, 4 green lights, quite a few frustrated people with horns, and many, many swearwords to get the damn machine going again, and in order to keep it going (I had several traffic lights to go yet), I had to pull the manual choke all the way out.

Sigh

Guess that's the price I pay for driving a classic Mini.

Cheers

You will have to clarify the "at a certain angle" -bit - I don't think I really understand that.

Thank you, by the way, for your compliment concerning my car - I've had a lot of slack for driving a Mini, but I love the damn thing to death, in spite of its shortcomings (which are legion). Trust me, you'll find many more posts in the future about annoyances concerning that bloody machine - if only it weren't so damn gorgeous!

I've posted a picture of my car on TBF once, but I removed that and I deleted it from my computer just a week ago, but as soon as I have a picture of it on my computer, I'll post it on here, for the world to see - yes, I drive a Mini, and I'm proud of it!

Cheers
